In a groundbreaking move aimed at attracting global talent and fostering a vibrant digital nomad community, South Korea will start issuing the highly anticipated Digital Nomad Visa on Jan.1, 2024. How To Apply For Korea Digital Nomad Visa 2024?
Applicants must submit documents to the Korean embassy in their respective country to prove that,
- Applicants must be 18 years old or older.
- Copy of passport
- Passport-sized photo no more than 6 months old
- Applicants have worked in their current field for at least a year.
- Applicants earn an annual income of over $65,000. The figure is double the amount of Korea’s gross national income per capita as of 2022.
- Verification of employment
- Details of criminal record
- Proof of private health Insurance with coverage of at least $76,000 to ensure the ability to travel back home in an emergency
- Proof of relationship to dependents (if applicable)
- A commitment to abide by local laws and regulations.
- If applicants receive the visa, digital nomads will be allowed to bring along a spouse and children and children must be younger than 18.
- Digital nomad visa holders will be allowed to initially stay in Korea for one year, and open to an opportunity to extend for another year, extending the maximum term to up to 2 years.
- Foreigners who are already living here on a short-term tourist visa such as the B-1, B-2, and C-3 are eligible to reapply for the digital nomad visa if they meet the requirements.
- Digital nomad visa holders will not be allowed to apply for a job within Korea.
- Korean embassies abroad will begin accepting applications.
The new digital nomad visa system will remain in a test-run status and the government will later assess whether to adopt it permanently.
